About

Curious Comics is proud to have been serving Vancouver Island for over 35 years! The first store was opened in downtown Victoria in 1988 by Bill Rice. It moved to the classic location at 631 Johnson a few years later and has been serving comic book fans ever since.

Curious Comics started growing as more and more customers flocked to the shop. The Nanaimo location opened in 1996, and the Hillside location in 1998. Responding to Victoria’s growth as a city, the Hillside location turned to the Langford location on Goldstream.

Current owner, James Watson came on as a partner to Bill in 2001, and fully took over the business as Bill and Tracy retired in 2015.

Curious Comics has always tried to give back to the community by supporting charities and schools; as well as supporting literacy thorough annual “Free Comic Day”.

The Nanaimo location in unique in that is has had a massive impact in the community by organizing a series of Free Comic-Con events to provide a place to mix with others who love comics in the Country Club Centre Mall.

That Con has grown over the years, and it has been fortunate enough to able to continue to offer the event as a charity event, with free admission, and all proceeds from the Nanaimo event going directly to a local charity. We estimate that we have raised over $20,000.00 for charities in the Nanaimo area.
